TRAINING GRANTS

Training Grants are available now for companies in 8 Council areas in the West of Scotland. These are genuine grants, not loans, and will cover up to 50% of the cost of approved training courses. The grants are paid directly by the Council on satisfactory completion of the training, and have been available for a number of years. The application process is straightforward, and Council staff are very helpful.

There are some qualifying criteria which must be met, but these are not too onerous, and are set to define exactly who is eligible for assistance. The main criteria are:

  • Companies must operate from business premises within one of the participating Council areas.
  • Companies with head offices or parent offices outside these areas are eligible as long as the staff being trained work within the area.
  • Companies must have less than 250 employees worldwide (including those in parent companies if the company is a subsidiary company).
  • Companies must have a genuine, identified training requirement, and this will be verified to ensure the training is appropriate for the company.
  • Training must not have already started before the application and approval process.
  • Training providers must be registered with Councils (which obviously Quix are, and have been for a number of years). Our registration number is 093.

The application must be completed by the company applying for the grant, however Quix can assist with the planning and application process.

Grants are available from: Glasgow City, West & East Dunbartonshire, North & South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde

PLEASE NOTE: At the time of writing, the councils have been refused repeat funding for next year and are appealling this decision. Currently, available budgets for next year are HALF what they are at present so grants will be harder to obtain. Please apply before the beginning of December this year, for training to be completed by mid March.
